New neighbourhood #1
Meskel Square is going to become a bit more photo focused. Here is a first glimpse at our new Khartoum neighbourhood Amarat. The mosque looks on to Africa Street, a busy dual carriageway that separates us off from the airport.

I find it interesting that it's 'those who have lost', and not 'those who are lost'.

Dude,
Welcome to Khartoum! By the way, what is it in Amarat that every newcomer stays there? I spent the first ten days in Khartoum around where you are staying at the moment!
Incidentally, have you been to Ozone, Solitaire,Universal? These are the coolest places in Khartoum.
Once again welcome to Kharoum-a confused east african city!

Thanks Katacha - don't know why everyone ends up here - maybe bacause of the closness of Ozone, Solitaire and Universal. Went to all of them within four days of arriving - Ozone and Universal on the first day. Universal is taking a break after a visit from the alcohol police though. Where else would you recommend?

Hey Andrew! What I recommend is that you start getting to know the right people who will eventually start inviting you for private house parties... because in private house parties, anything goes behind closed doors and I mean anything!
For now you're pretty much stuck with Ozone, Solitaire and Universal. Steers isn't as hip as it was when it first opened.
Private house parties man! They're the answer.

Welcome to Khartoum. As you get to know people, you will discover the real coolest spots! Keep your eyes open.
Welcome.
