I can take it
Bit blown away by the out-pouring of love, peace and understanding in the comments to the post below. Thank you all very much. Really.
Here's part of yegermal!'s take on it:
reading all the comments, all the praises you are showing him is like what people say when someone passes away. he is alright, he is just going next door. you can still have a go at him, take your diaspora frustration out on him, he can take it.all of a sudden you are going soft, what is wrong with you people!! what happens to the Ethiopian pride of "you dis my nation and I will have you down" diatribe!
Quite right. And here's all of yeah's comment:
good riddance!
Ah, just like the old days.

Oh, Andrew...you are leaving?!!! Mts. Now I will be having meskelsquare withdrawals.
And yeah, nobody else mourns more than us or even as much as us after we've lost something or someone. :)))
Well, it was really great having your blog. I would have appreciated more Anthony's kind of reporting...but then, why should you suffer for our problems? But you have also done good reporting on the areas you have chosen to be your primary targets, such as famine (to bring international attention), malaria, technology, etc. It was all for good and thank you. Even the posts on "miscalls" were great and informative, although not everybody appreciated them.:))
You will be missed. I still want to check your blog from Sudan if you are going to have one; are you gonna keep the same name...or will we be redirected?
Thank you, Andrew and good luck!

Hmmm...So you think mail nominating you for a C.B.E. may have been too much?

Andrew, I am sure of it, the guy who wrote “good riddance!” is meles zenawi.
'Abet, Abet?' or 'Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh?'

Ato Baheilu what makes you think I am a guy? I know Melese is your nightmare and will be for generations to come.

I thought your report on the Ethiopian hostages in Afar after the British were released was superb.
In a weird way, it demonstarted that despite what we say in public, we Ethiopians still see Ethiopian life with less respect than European. I still feel guilty when I read your articles on those Ethiopian hostages.

It's sad to learn that you are leaving ETH and most probably abandon meskel square.
I say, keep meskel square, there will still be a lot to write about Ethiopia while you are stationed in Sudan.
The crises in Darfur are such a big hit in North America. I look forward to reading your observations on this issue. We need someone like yourself to bring the truth to the people of Africa.
So long my friend... I wish you all the best.
