China responds: Not protesting, reprimanding, but bullets!
GlobalVoices has got a great round-up of Chinese bloggers' reactions to the killing of nine of their nationals by the ONLF in Ethiopia's Somali region. (See Reuters' story on the attack.)
Mostly it is a mixture of grief, anger and worries about the safety of China's commercial expansion into Africa.
Here is how Tiexue BBS responded:
Shall we change our way in respond to those beasts who killed our fellow Chinese?! Not protesting, reprimanding, but bullets!

Are you trying to prove my ignorance? You seriously mean that I’m supposed to read and confirm what you’ve stated! The Chinese alphabet has its own art of writing, reading and understanding it.

I think most of the China's people don't know what happen in Ethiopia, they just know a few Chinese were killed there.
This incident is quite sensitive in China, the Chinese media do not make much report on it, that is impossible in the West.

Thanks very much safiya and alemayehu. I have written about Anthony now just above this post. There is going to be some sort of memorial event some time soon. I will post details when I get them.
Dear lencho - I didn't translate the Chinese myself. If you click on the link higher up in the post, you will see that it was GlobalVoices that did the translations.
