Innocuous, moderate and sweet

"Even inoccuous blogs like Meskelsquare.com have been blocked," writes Ferenge Addis Blog. "[They're] even blocking meskelsquare from the always moderate Andrew Heavens," writes Urael who goes on to talk about "the sweetest among the bloggers meskelsquare". "Surprise, surprise...meskelsquare.com is now out of sight here. Why would they block a blog which publishes stories about Miscalls and Kenyan web watchdogs?" asks Seminawork. "Andrew has been very careful to be fair and neutral on his blog," says Ethan Zuckerman.

How did I get to be so dull? (Come on caustic commenters, this is a gift.)

I am just curious...have you been banned from the courts? or have you been threatened not to cover "sensitive" topics [considering you have a large readership]?

I disagree with all complementing you. yea, you say you dont do politics, but can anyone really write anything about Ethiopia without shedding light on the miserable condition of the country? If not you, the commenters will.... making you just as guilty in the eyes of the midget in Addis. :)

Hi Abe - no I haven't been banned from covering the court case. Reuters main correspondent Tsegasye Tadesse is following that story due to his years of experience and better Amharic - better than mine in the way that he speaks it and I don't.

There must be a good rant in you Andrew - let it out :)

One thing... I've been hearing how excellent Ethiopian cuisne is, but I've never tried it. I know you've dabbled in raw meat, but I was wondering if you could blog a bit? Do you do requests?

ohhhh...that explains the thorough coverage we are getting through reuters!??????

BTW 4 out of 5 times, I get an internal server error when trying to comment on your website. What is with that?

Moderate? Yes, I can see that. Innocuous? That might depend. If the midget in Addis makes up for lack of height by having very long toes, you might be stepping on the outliers. (To say nothing of the out-and-outliers.) But sweet? Sweet? Forget it.

I won't hear a work said against Meskelsquare. I find you blog an excellent aid to my midday nap.
